BFT Political and Member Organizer Positions
Job Title: BFT Organizer Stipend Position

Job Description:

Work with CFT staff and BFT officers to implement a strategic plan to develop and further BFT organizing, political goals, including our contract campaign, advocacy around our Quality Education Agenda, our Equity Agenda, advocacy on state issues, and mobilization for local and state electoral fights.

Contact non-members by phone and in person to encourage union membership.

Attend twice-month Organizing Team meetings.

Communicate regularly with assigned Site Reps via phone and in person about current mobilizations and Site Rep organizing tasks. Work closely with Site Reps.

Attend BFT Executive Board and membership meetings.

Attend political events and community meetings.

Work closely with the campaigns of BFT-endorsed candidates and measures.

Recruit members for electoral volunteering and political events.

Help with membership drives, including coordinating a PAC membership drive.

Be the BFT liaison to city governing bodies and commissions.

Promote Union activities and campaigns with members.

Contribute creativity to campaigns (slogans, art images, event structures, etc.)

Lead organizing events and campaigns.
Qualifications:

Interest in electoral politics and in increasing BFT’s visibility in our community.

Interest in helping to be BFT’s voice in the community. Interest in working on both short and long-term projects, working closely with a team of union colleagues, and gaining new skills.

Willingness to be in regular communication with Site Reps.
