BFT is Walking-in with CALIFORNIA for UTLA and OEA on January 11th, 2019!

 

In schools all over California—from San Diego to Sacramento, Anaheim to Oakland—educator unions and allies are planning to participate in CTA’s call for a statewide day of action on 1/11/19, by wearing #REDforED and taking photos, to stand together with United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) and Oakland Education Association as they fight for the schools our students deserve. Many schools and unions are also organizing “walk-ins”.

The struggle for adequate school funding is not unique to LA or Oakland. California is the 5th largest economy in the world, home to more billionaires than any other state, but we rank 43rd in per-pupil funding and 48th in class size nationwide. These solidarity actions demonstrate that the fights in LA and Oakland are our fight too, and help raise awareness about the need for increased funding statewide.
